The CEE startup ecosystem is not an emerging market story anymore. It is a structural advantage story — deep technical talent, proximity to regulated industries, and founders who understand compliance as a feature, not a bug.
— Joachim EnegaardJoachim Enegaard is an Investor at Rockaway Ventures, a Prague-based Seed and Series A fund within Rockaway Capital. The fund invests across Europe and increasingly in the US, with a focus on three core verticals: Defence & Dual-Use technologies, Industrial AI, and Energy.
Originally from Copenhagen, Joachim holds an MSc from Copenhagen Business School. He was drawn to Rockaway by the strong alignment with the team, its strategy, and shared ambitions — as well as a conviction in the growth potential of the CEE startup ecosystem.
Rockaway Ventures operates at the intersection of deep tech and European strategic priorities. The fund backs founders building in sectors where Europe has both the technical capacity and the regulatory framework to lead: defence and dual-use technology, industrial AI applications, and the energy transition. These are not speculative bets on distant futures — they are investments in the infrastructure layer that European sovereignty requires.
Before joining Rockaway, Enegaard spent three years at BlackWood, a Danish VC fund, where he was instrumental in the investment team and overall growth of the firm. While working full-time alongside his studies, he managed his own workflows — sourcing deals, growing the network, conducting due diligence, and presenting to the investment committee. His work led to several direct investments from BlackWood's first fund.
