Unlike chatbots, in robotics we are dealing with a new class of AI models — the so-called Vision-Language-Action Models. While LLMs benefited from the vast amount of freely available text data on the internet, robotics lacks precisely this kind of data.
— Christian TauberChristian Tauber is Co-Founder and CEO of NEOALP, a Vienna-based startup that helps industrial companies integrate humanoid and autonomous robots into their operations. NEOALP builds end-to-end pipelines for real and synthetic data generation, model training, simulation, and validation — making robotic systems robust, safe, and industrially ready.
The company works across the full project lifecycle, from technical consulting through to operational deployment, specialising in the seamless integration of autonomous robot solutions into existing system landscapes.
NEOALP operates at the frontier of a new AI model class: Vision-Language-Action Models (VLAs). While large language models benefited from vast text data freely available on the internet, robotics faces a fundamental data scarcity problem. NEOALP solves this by collecting real training data in industrial scenarios, multiplying it through AI-generated synthetic data, then training, validating, and hardening the models until they meet industrial safety and reliability standards.
The company has partnered with clients like Semperit, a global manufacturer of industrial polymer products, to implement humanoid robots in manufacturing — working alongside technology partners including Cancom and serving as the official integration partner of Innok Robotics in Austria.
NEOALP is embedded in Vienna's growing AI infrastructure, contributing to the AI Factory Austria AI:AT initiative and its coworking hub — a collaborative environment connecting Austrian AI startups, research institutions, and industry partners to accelerate the deployment of applied AI across the country.
